Configure Custom SSO Provider
SSO is performed using the username of each user. This means that your company user's usernames must match between your identity provider and JobPlanner.
Sections Overview
Single Sign On (SSO) allows your company to set up a connection between JobPlanner and your preferred identity provider (SAML) to facilitate user authentication.
Steps
- Navigate to your Identity provider and begin by creating a new application - we recommend naming it JobPlanner. Creating this application will generate the URLs and identifiers that we will need for the steps that follow.
- If assistance is needed on this step you can always reach out to our support team. This process varies depending on your identity provider.
- In JobPlanner, navigate to Settings -> SSO and click Add Provider at the top of the page.
- Fill out the fields in the JobPlanner SSO Provider creation form as follows:
- Provider: Select your identity provider here - select other if your provider is not listed specifically. Selecting your provider may change the names of the fields that follow. This is done as a convenience to more closely match the values within your identity provider.
- Login URL: Enter the Login URL from your identity provider
- Issuer URL / Entra Identifier: Enter the issuer URL/entra identifier. The name of this value can vary depending on your provider.
- X.509 Certificate: Paste the contents of the certificate generated by your identity provider
- Enable/Disable SCIM Provisioning
- Enabling SCIM provisioning will listen for user activation/deactivation events from your identity provider and activate/deactivate the corresponding user within JobPlanner (if one exists). Not all identity providers offer this feature.
- Further set-up instructions are provided within the JobPlanner application after enabling SCIM provisioning.
- Copy the Identifier (Entity ID) from the JobPlanner SSO provider creation screen, paste this into the appropriate field within your identity provider application. This field name can vary depending on provider.
- Copy the Reply URL from the JobPlanner SSO provider creation screen, paste this into the appropriate field within your identity provider application. This field name can vary depending on provider.
- Save the application in your Identity Provider
- Click Save in JobPlanner to save the SSO configuration
- Upon saving, this SSO provider will become available to your active users. To use this identity provider for a user, they must be assigned to it within the user edit screen. Creating this provider makes it available as an option to be assigned to your users, but it will not automatically assign them to it.
- Enabling SSO for a user will not close any active sessions they have, but it will require that user to authorize with SSO the next time they sign in.
