Adding New Commitments
This is help for initating the add of a new Commitments i.e. a new Purchase Order or a new Subcontract.
In order to add a new Commitment, the User must have Add or Admin permissions for Commitments (see User Types - Company - Permissions - Project Features - Finances - Commitments).
What Commitments can be added and how they are added depends on system Settings for Commitments. A user with permissions to change Settings for Commitments (see Permissions - System Features - Settings), can set whether or not both Subcontracts and Purchase Orders can be created in the system or just one or the other (see Settings - Commitments - Commitment Settings - Enable Purchase Orders/Subcontracts).
On the Commitments List, if the User has Add or Admin permissions, there will be a button to add new Commitments. However, the button and the functionality will differ depending on the above setting:
- If both Purchase Orders and Subcontracts are enabled, the function button to add a new Subcontract or Purchase Order displays as New Commitment
. There will then be a drop down, where a new Subcontract or New Purchase Order can be selected to be created. - If just Subcontracts are enabled, the function button to add a new Subcontract displays as New Subcontract
. - If just Purchase Orders are enabled, the function button to add a new Purchase Order displays as New Purchase Order
.
For more information on the button on the Commitments List, see Commitments List - Layout and Navigation.
