Bidding - Overview

Job Planner has full functionality to manage the bidding process.

Bidding is considered part of pre-construction.

Both the pre-construction and construction process can be managed within JobPlanner.

The pre-construction (bidding) and construction processes are separate processes. They are often managed by separate people within an organization (for example, estimators do preconstruction then once the job is awarded it is handed over to the construction project manager). Several activities occur in between such as negotiations and likely changes between the bid and actual construction (for example there's are usually another revision of construction drawings with different stamps).

So although the processes are managed separately, Bidding Participants that are awarded the job get automatically moved to the Project Contacts tab for easy setting up of contracts, etc.

For the Bidding process for a project:

  • Contacts can be setup to be participants in a Bid
  • Contacts can be sent invitations to bid on work
  • Bid responses can be managed
  • A Bid can be awarded

Bidding Email Templates

There are, by default, prebuilt email templates for sending invitations to bid, addendum notifications, bid reminders and general project messages.

Some details on the prebuilt email templates can be changed at the time of sending the email such as:

  • Email subject line
  • Response Due Date
  • Message text

File Attachments can also be added to the emails.

This makes it very easy to send invitations to bid and manage the process. However, there is also functionality to create custom Bid Forms. Contact JobPlanner for more information on this feature.
